Alison Macleod Pulls Double Duty at Mt. Lawn
Indianapolis, IN (June 30, 2008) - Alison and the Ford Racing/B.East team traveled to the short 3/10th paved flat Mt. Lawn Speedway in New Castle, IN on June 25th with the USAC Regional Series. Alison would attempt to pull off a double feature win as she would compete in both the Midget and Ford Focus series.
In the midget practice Alison said the car was handling well and she felt a positive vibe as the evening began. Alison would start 4th in her heat race, finishing a strong 3rd which would position her for a 6th place starting position based on the USAC passing point system. By the half way point of the 30 lap feature Alison was sitting in 4th place, when a lengthy yellow came out. Alison felt the car picked up a push once the green flag fell, however the car was still fast and Alison finished a strong 4th place. "The car was great right out of the trailer, the handling was spot on and I'm satisfied with our performance tonight as I'm learning something new every time I get into the seat of the midget" said Macleod. The 4th place finish puts Alison 3rd in the USAC Regional points standings.
As for the Ford Focus event Alison would step foot into the #5 Bob East prepared machine to do battle with the other entrants. The car was fresh out of the repair shop after a hard impact at the Anderson Speedway in Anderson, IN. Alison said the main focus of practice was to ensure the car was running fine and her comfort level would allow her to focus on racing. In the heat race Alison would start 5th and comfort was not a problem as she would charge to the front for a 2nd place finish giving her the 4th starting position in the feature. At the drop of the green flag Alison made contact with Katie Hargitt while the two were battling for the 2nd spot, Alison would spin however the car suffered no damage so to the tail of the 10 car field she went. "The car was really strong in the feature and I was able to really settle in and hit my points on the track" said Macleod. Alison would charge all the way to 2nd place, needing just a few more laps she felt to take over the top position. "It was great to step back into the Focus car, these cars are all about momentum and they really teach you to slow your hands down and be steady with the wheel" said Macleod.
